Tame Impala
Tame Impala's transformation from psych rock project to pop behemoth over the last 15 years has been quite something to behold. And it continues on the upcoming new album "Deadbeat" next month. Check out new single "Dracula" below and look for the LP in couple of weeks on Columbia.

Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode has long been one of my favorite bands, and it's a damn shame i've never been able to see them live before. Hopefully that will change this year when they come to Austin in September. Anyway, while i'm a big fan, i haven't really been able to connect with much of their output over the last 20 years. Sure, a song here or there might make its mark, but with new album "Memento Mori," it feels like they're making the best music they've made since 1996's "Ultra." Essentially a duo now since the passing of Andy Fletcher last year, his presence can still be felt in tribute. It gives the whole thing a mix of sorrow and joy. Listen to "My Cosmos Is Mine" below, download the album here (the band is now on Bandcamp), and look for physical copies wherever you buy physical media.

Tyler The Creator
Somehow, i managed to sleep on this for the last couple of weeks, but Tyler The Creator just released a new record called "Flower Boy," and from what i've heard so far, it's really damn good. Listen to synthy, underground R&B leaning "Boredom" below.

Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker
He may be 83 years old, but Leonard Cohen still kills it with every release. His new album "You Want It Darker" carries the same heaviness his previous records have had, Cohen's low and gravelly vocals sounding like dark omens or mystic storytelling from some old sage. Listen to the title track below.

Solange - Cranes in the Sky
It's always pleasantly surprising when an artist you normally wouldn't pay any real attention to delivers a song or work that just demands it of you. And so we have "Cranes in the Sky," a new song from Solange (she of the Knowles clan) from her new album "A Seat at the Table." The song is this gorgeous and airy ode to self-empowerment and is proving to be my jam of the morning. Watch the excellent video below.

David Bowie - Blackstar video
In January, David Bowie will be releasing a weird new album called "Blackstar" via Columbia Records. Any Bowie news is always welcomed warmly around these parts, and i've got to say, i am a fan of the first taste of this new record. The video, which you can and definitely should watch below is...well...wow. It's weird and creepy and hypnotizing. I am stoked for the new record.

HAERTS
Hey, HAERTS' self-titled, debut full-length LP came out last week. Who knew? Apparently not me, nor did i realize the band had signed to major label Columbia. Anyway, the band continue to wade through the waters of synthy 80's nostalgia, soaring and dreamy jams to watch the tide go out to as the sun sets brilliantly in the background. Somewhere Tom Cruise is flying a fighter jet. Take a listen to "Hope" below.
