Night School

Earlier this year, Oakland band Night School dropped their new "For Keeps" EP, a short collection of dreamy indie rock that opens with an excellent cover of "Lullaby," aka the theme from "Rosemary's Baby."  Check it out below and grab the record here from Graveface.

Troth

Australian duo Troth get weird and warbly on their upcoming new album "An Unfinished Rose."  Listen to the surreal and ethereal haze of "Unfinished Rose" below, like slowly coming back into consciousness, bits of dreamspace still lingering in your periphery.  The universe is a mystery.  Check it out and pre-order the LP here from Night School.

Sorrow

Sorrow was a UK neo-folk group that released two albums in the '90s and then faded into obscurity.  But the good folks at Night School have taken it on themselves to reissue the band's 1999 swan song "Sleep Now Forever," and we're all the better for it. Twilight melodies and elegiac moods abound.  Check out "Soldier" below and get the reissued LP here.

Tristwch & Fenywod

Formed in 2022, Leeds band Tristwch Y Fenywod (The Sadness of Women) make a haunting and wonderful mix of dark folk, goth, and post punk that sounds like it could soundtrack an Wiccan ritual or druid processional.  And it's all sung in Welsh.  Check out the eerie vibes of "Ferch Gyda'r Llygaid Du" below and pre-order the upcoming debut full-length, self-titled album here from Night School.

Molly Nilsson

Berlin-based synth pop artist Molly Nilsson has a new album coming our way later this summer, and her first with cover art breaking away from the minimalist black and white art she usually uses.  Check out new tune "Excalibur" below and pre-order the upcoming "Un-American Activities" LP here from Night School.

Molly Nilsson

I had totally forgotten that Berlin, lo-fi, synth artist Molly Nilsson had a new album hitting us this month (yesterday to be exact).  "Extreme" features plenty of the artist's usual melancholy sentiment cloaked in synth pop and lo-fi aesthetic, but this time around she's thrown some guitars into the mix.  It makes for a fuller sound.  Check out "Sweet Smell of Success" below and order the record here from Night School.

Molly Nilsson

Berlin artist Molly Nilsson has been making music for over a decade now, and her upcoming new album "Extreme" looks to continue her particular blend of lo-fi, gothy, alt-pop.  These are songs to get wistful to.  Check out the album opening "Absolute Power" below and pre-order the record here from Night School.

Molly Nilsson - Hey Moon

Way back in 2008, Berlin lo-fi synth pop artist Molly Nilsson recorded a wonderful little piece of melancholy pop called "Hey Moon."  She decided to re-release the track over the weekend with all the proceeds being donated to Black Lives Matter because of...um...reasons.  I commend her for it.  Listen below and order the new 7" here via Night School.

Night School

Bay area band Night School make a lush and gorgeous mix of shoegaze, dreampop, and '60s girl pop, hazy and airy respites from an increasingly darkening world.  New album "Disappear Here" is out now on Graveface.  Get it here and listen to the dreamy, melancholy "Sweetened" below.
