Daily Jam - Pleasant Street

So, i'm one of those people that likes the music of Tim Buckley better than the music of his son Jeff Buckley.  I don't think there's a lot of us out there, especially among people my age.  Anyway, here's the former with "Pleasant Street," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Love from Room 109 at the Islander

There are plenty of cover songs out there that i love.  Here's one that i positively adore.  Listen to Mojave 3 take on Tim Buckley's "Love from Room 109 at the Islander" below, our Daily Jam.

body / negative Covers Elliott Smith and Tim Buckley

Fresh off of last year's excellent "everett" LP, LA artist body / negative just dropped two wonderful stripped down and lo-fi covers of Elliott Smith's "Twilight" and Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren."  Check them both out below and download them here from Track Number Records.

Daily Jam - Song to the Siren

I think i've liked just about every version of this song that i've ever heard, so here's the original.  Listen to Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Song to the Siren

I'm a big fan of Tim Buckley, and his "Song to the Siren" is wonderful piece of wistful folk pop, but This Mortal Coil's version is one of those times for me where the cover surpasses the original.  It makes me just want to float away.  Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Love from Room 109 at the Islander (On Pacific Coast Highway)

He's always had a rabid following, but i never really got all that into Jeff Buckley.  He had a fine voice and everything, but i guess i was just always preferred his father.  A great songwriter, who like his son left us far too soon, Tim Buckley made a kind of Americana unique to himself, bits of folk and psych pop and jazz meshed all together.  Check out one of my favorites, "Love from Room 109 at the Islander (On Pacific Coast Highway)" below, our Daily Jam.

Amen Dunes - Song to the Siren

Amen Dunes' "Love" LP has easily been one of my favorite records to come out this year, and apparently there was a whole lot of material that didn't make the cut.  Some of those songs are now being issued on an EP called "Cowboy Worship" coming out in January on Sacred Bones.  Check out the dusty and weary cover of This Mortal Coil's cover of Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren."
