Jennifer Castle

Autumn brings autumnal tones with the latest release from Canadian folk artist Jennifer Castle.  New album "Camelot" feels like something that's just always been there, a kind of timeless pop music to soothe the soul.  Check out the title track below and get the LP here from Paradise of Bachelors.

Mega Bog

Next week brings us a new album from west coast artist Mega Bog.  New single "Maybe You Died" feels like waking up in an otherworldly haze, a little hungover, confused.  Dreamy and subdued, off-kilter pop sounds.  Check the video for the tune out below and order the "Life, and Another" LP here from Paradise of Bachelors.

Jennifer Castle

I slept on Jennifer Castle's latest album "Monarch Season" back in October, but i should have figured that the dusty and serene folk album would eventually find its way to my ears.  On "Veins," the tape hisses, dust particles catch the sunlight, and the hills roll on like some Americana vista.  Check it out below and get the record here from Paradise of Bachelors.

Mind Over Mirrors

Experimental artist Mind Over Mirrors has been making consistently interesting and challenging music for a number of years now, and this April brings the latest, an album called "Bellowing Sun" that serves as both a new record and the soundtrack to a collaborative visual art project involving a large zoetropic sculpture and lighting design.  Whoa.  Anyway, take a listen to the first bit of music released from the record, the synthy, proggy "Matchstick Grip," featuring some guest vocals from Eleventh Dream Day's Janet Bean, and pre-order the record here from Paradise of Bachelors.

Mind Over Mirrors

The fine folks at Paradise of Bachelors are releasing the latest album from Jaime Fennelly's Mind Over Mirrors project.  "Undying Color" is a swirl of analog synthesizers, Indian pedal harmonium, and far-out and trippy noises, the sound of consciousnesses expanding.  This time around, Fennelly has put together a full band consisting of members of Death Blues, Califone, and more for a lusher, fuller record.  Listen to "Restore & Slip" below.

The Chance

I love that there are so many record labels out there (both big and small) who scour the country and the world for a veritable smorgasbord of lost relics and obscure artifacts in the form of forgotten albums...and then reissue them for our listening pleasure.  Paradise of Bachelors just released a gold nugget in The Chance's brilliant 1981 country-funk-psych-folk masterpiece "In Search."  Chance Martin started his career working with Johnny Cash as a stage hand before he went on to record this awesome LP.  Take a listen to two tracks from the record below, "Mr. Freedom Man" and "Blue Monday."  They're both really difficult to categorize, other than just filing them under awesome.  Get the album here.  Go do it now.

Steve Gunn

Guitar virtuoso and member of Kurt Vile's Violators Steve Gunn has a new solo offering out this month.  "Time Off" is a swirling mix of guitars and drums, a set of pop/folk songs that feel more like jazz than anything else.  Remarkably calming work.  Listen to "Water Wheel" below and get the album from Paradise of Bachelors.
