Tame Impala - Posthumous Forgiveness

Tame Impala have been releasing singles from their upcoming new album "The Slow Rush" for months now, and with the record on the horizon (February), the band have released another song, the quasi-two-parter "Posthumous Forgiveness."  The tune starts as a slinky, soulful piece of psychedelia before morphing into an airy, R&B flavored piece of dreampop.  Check it out below and get the record next year on Modular.

Daily Jam - Wolf Boy

Every year i find some older artist's work that in the past i had disregarded or was completely ignorant of.  This year it was the latter in the case of Japanese singer and artist Doji Morita.  She released 7 albums from 1975 to 1983, beginning as this kind of haunting folk singer, but gradually bringing in more sounds, pulling from experimental electronic music, chamber pop, new wave, and synth pop.  After releasing her last album in '83, the secretive artist (she always wore sunglasses and a wig) pretty much dropped off the radar until her death last year.  From that last album, check out "Wolf Boy" below, our Daily Jam.

Khruangbin & Leon Bridges

The exotic psychedelic sounds of Khruangbin get paired with the throwback, old school soul of Leon Bridges on the upcoming collaborative "Texas Sun" EP from the two artists.  And it's a wonderful mix, some desert Americana that plays like lost gems on an old AM radio station.  Check out the title track below and pre-order the record here from Dead Oceans.

Daily Jam - It's Just Like Surgery

Years and years ago, we had an ice storm in Austin, and the whole city pretty much shut down.  Shows all over the city were cancelled.  Accept for the one i had tickets to, Interpol and the old Emo's downtown.  So of course i braved the elements to go out, my wife (then girlfriend) unhappily in tow.  It was cold.  The show was on the open (half outdoor) stage.  And opening was the psychedelic band The Warlocks.  And they played forever, Interpol not getting on the stage until 1AM or so.  It's a good thing i liked them, though my wife has never forgiven them.  Anyway, here's the Jesus and Mary Chain aping "It's Just Like Surgery," our Daily Jam.
