Psychic Ills & Gibby Haynes
Apparently back in 2010, psych rock band Psychic Ills recorded some material with the Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes for RVNG Intl.'s FRKWYS collaborative series. And now, it's finally seeing the light of day as "FRKWYS Vol. 4.5: Nowhere in the Night." Check out "Something Like That" below and order the record here.

Colin Self
I'm not really sure how to describe "Siblings," the latest release from New York artist Colin Self. It's kind of a hybrid of new age, dance, world music, experimental melodies, and avant garde pop. But whatever you want to call it, it sounds immense. Watch the video for "Emblem" below and grab the album here via RVNG Intl.

Michele Mercure
I love that in the 1980s there was this whole DIY electronic scene of artists recording super limited runs of their work on cassette tapes that got traded in and around the scene. And now, a lot of that music is seeing a wider release in the form of reissues and compilations (see collection of material from The Nightcrawlers released earlier this year), a trend that i hope continues. In November, RVNG is set to release "Beside Herself," a collection of music from Pennsylvania artist Michele Mercure recorded between 1983 and 1990. Listen to and watch the video for "An Accident Waiting to Happen" below and pre-order the record here.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Suzanne Ciani
It's been a long time since i've written about FRKWYS collaboration, a series or records put out by RVNG Intl. that pair electronic and experimental artists together to make something sprawling and ambitious. The thirteenth installment, "Sunergy," comes from rising electronic composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and legendary synth/new age artist Suzanne Ciani. The two craft a beeping and moving soundscape akin to an ocean within a computer, waves of current washing over chips and silicon. Listen to "Closed Circuit" below and grab the record in September.

The Body
The Body is Lee Buford and Chip King. The duo sound like the darkest spectrum of the Wax Trax catalog filtered through Scott Walker's deepest, most insane nightmares. It's strange, and intense, and honestly, really fucking awesome. Their latest album "I Shall Die Here" finds the experimental electronic noise meddlers trading shots with Bobby Krlic, aka Haxan Cloak. This is ominous, scary music at its very best. Get the album next month from RVNG and listen to "Hail to thee, Everlasting Pain" below.
