Gigi Masin

Italian composer Gigi Masin crafts ambient works infused with elements of library grooves, jazz, lounge, techno, and more.  His latest release is "Movement," his debut for the great Sacred Bones Records.  Check out the sci-fi-noir vibes of "Lost" below and get the LP here.

Black Duck with Elena Setien

Chicago trio Black Duck have a kind of jazz infused post-rock thing going on for them.  On their new album they pair with Spanish singer/songwriter Elena Setien, adding an element of Americana and almost loungey groove to the sound.  Check out "Land of the Many Eyes" below and grab the appropriately titled "Black Duck with Elena Setien" LP here from Thrill Jockey.

Daily Jam - Dream Love

Scouring through YouTube rabbit holes become a crate digging type activity for me over the last few years.  There's gold to be found in the internet.  Like this lush and wonderful soul track from jazz drummer Grady Tate's 1977 solo album "Master Grady Tate."  Dig on "Dream Love" below, our Daily Jam.

Captain Murphy

Last night i was lucky enough to get out an see the new kung fu movie "The Furious."  To put it bluntly, it ruled.  And there's some truly excellent fight choreography throughout.  Anyhoo, the closing credits features a new track from Flying Lotus hip-hop alter-ego Captain Murphy.  Check out "Mudhole," featuring additional production from Little Snake, below and download it here from Brainfeeder.

Chat Pile

Oklahoma City metal band Chat Pile are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands these days, their mix of black metal, emo, and grunge, along with their penchant for experimentation, just vibing with me in all the right ways.  September sees the release of new album "Who Loves the Sun."  Pre-order the LP here from The Flenser and listen to the crunchy "Deep Blue" below.

Daily Jam - Welcome to the Machine

Like a lot of dudes before me, i went through a pretty heavy Pink Floyd phase when i was in college.  My enthusiasm for the band has waned over the years, but every now and then i go back and listen and remember why i got so wrapped up in them in the first place.  Here's a track from "Wish You Were Here," maybe the strongest and most consistent release from the band.  Listen to "Welcome to the Machine" below, our Daily Jam.
