Alexis Marshall

Daughters front man Alexis Marshall has a solo album heading our way later this year, and for the time being has seen fit to give us all the first taste with the nervous and noisy freakout of "Nature in Three Movements."  Check the track out below and get it here via Sargent House.

Mrs. Piss

Mrs. Piss is the delightfully named project of Chelsea Wolfe and Jess Gowrie, a grungey, sludgy mess of goth and doom tinged hard rock.  We go pretty hard for Chelsea Wolfe around these parts, and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.  Check out the video for "Knelt" below and pre-order the "Self-Surgery" album here via Sargent House.

Lingua Ignota - O Ruthless Great Divine Director

I really don't know how to define the music or experimental artist Lingua Ignota.  At times she's damn near operatic, and at others she creates a cacophony of hysteric and terrifying noise.  It's wonderful.  Anyway, she released a new track yesterday, the haunting and sneering "O Ruthless Great Divine Director."  You should definitely listen to it below and then grab it here via Sargent House.

"Everyone i know's a fucking cop."

Chelsea Wolfe

Goth folk and metal chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe has a new album headed our way in September on Sargent House.  "Birth of Violence" finds the artist shedding back some of her more harder edged metal elements for something a little more straight folk, though the doom and gloom remain.  Listen to first single "The Mother Road" below and pre-order the album here.

Chelsea Wolfe covers Roky Erickson

Austin psych rock legend Roky Erickson passed away on Friday, and the wonderful Chelsea Wolfe has seen fit to pay tribute to the artist with a moving and emotional cover of Erickson's "Night of the Vampire."  Thanks to Shawn for the heads up.  Check it out below.

Russian Circles

Russian Circles have a new album of proggy instrumental metal headed our way in August.  Check out "Arluck" before, a track that's starts out on a frenetic and punchy groove before descending into something that feels like an intense horror score.  It's awesome.  Listen below and get the upcoming "Blood Year" LP here from Sargent House.

Ioanna Gika

Ioanna Gika, Greek-American artist and one half of the LA band IO Echo, is readying a solo record of dark electro-pop for Sargent House.  Our first taste is the throbbing and echoing "Roseate."  Give it a listen below and download it here.

Jaye Jayle

Young Widows member Jaye Jayle strikes out on his own in deliberately less raucous fashion on new solo effort "No Trail and Other Unholy Paths," aided on the boards by none other that Dean Hurley (he of David Lynch sound/music production fame).  Combining bits and pieces of folk, metal, drone, krautrock and a kind of meandering dark blues, the music is both soothing and ominous.  Listen to "Accepting" below and download the album here via Sargent House.

Emma Ruth Rundle

Red Sparrowes and Marriages member Emma Ruth Rundle has a new solo album of brooding slowburners headed our way in September on Sargent House.  Listen to the goth-tinged dark and heavy folk of "Fever Dreams" below and pre-order the upcoming "On Dark Horses" LP here.

Mutoid Man

Mutoid Man released a covers EP, and true to form for the metal band, it's a whole lot of fun.  Listen to "She's a Mutoid Lady," their take on the Tom Jones classic below and get the EP here via Sargent House.

Chelsea Wolfe - 16 Psyche

Dark chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe has always drawn plenty of inspiration from heavy metal for her Gothic folk output, but her latest, the upcoming "Hiss Spun," finds the artist almost going full on crushing doom metal.  Listen to "16 Psyche" below and get the record from Sargent House in September.

Mutoid Man

Easily one of the most entertaining bands i've ever seen on a whim during a festival, New York's Mutoid Man is everything fun heavy metal is supposed to be, an over the top onslaught of faux aggression, humor, wailing riffs, and triumphant vocals.  New album "War Moans" is out in June on Sargent House.  Listen to "Melt Your Mind" below.

Big Walnuts Yonder

I can tell we are officially entering springtime, and not just because it's getting a lot warmer around here, but rather because i can barely keep up with all of the amazing new music coming out over the next several weeks.  I've basically been blogging all morning, and could seriously keep going for the rest of the day.  But i am at work...so maybe not.  Anyway, new supergroup Big Walnuts Yonder, featuring members of Wilco, Deerhoof, and the legendary Mike Watt are releasing a self-titled LP in May on Sargent House.  Listen to the experimental, chaotic proto-punk of "Raise the Drawbridges?" below.

Wovenhand

Looks like we've got a new album from Denver's goth-doom-metal-Americana-post-punk band Wovenhand coming our way in September.  That's a good thing.  Listen to "Come Brave" below and grab the upcoming "Star Treatment" LP from Sargent House.  Fans of Swans and certain eras of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds should definitely check it out.

Russian Circles - Vorel

Hey, we've got new music from Russian Circles headed our way in August, the band's 6th(!) album "Guidance."  Those familiar with the group's style of heavy (both sonically and figuratively) post metal will be happy, as the trio seem to know each other inside and out, like some kind of old jazz band that's been riffing off of each other for years.  Listen to "Vorel" below and get the record from Sargent House.

Chelsea Wolfe - Hypnos

Having assuredly become one of my favorite artists over the last few years, any release from dark folk goth metal chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe is cause for celebration.  In April, she'll be releasing a 7" of unused tracks off of last year's "Abyss" LP on Sargent House.  Listen to the haunting "Hypnos" below.

Chelsea Wolfe - Iron Moon

We have a new album in the works from everybody's favorite dark goth-folk chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe.  "Abyss" is due in August on Sargent House, but you can listen to the first taste, the metal-leaning "Iron Moon" below.  Hooray!
