Alabaster DePlume
Experimental jazz composer and saxophonist Alabaster DePlume just released new EP "Cremisan: Prologue to a Blade." The first two tracks were recorded in Bethlehem at The Wonder Cabinet, an experimental arts, music, and architecture space, collaborating with local artists and musicians. The result is beautiful, aching, and somber. Check out "Honeycomb" below and download the EP here from International Anthem.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - To Walk the Night
While it's always a good time to listen to Samhain, it just feels more right when it's October. Listen to "To Walk the Night" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - Be My Druidess
It's simply not Halloween, or Autumn for that matter, without some Type O Negative. Here they are with the Gothic sensuality of "Be My Druidess." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Te Huhu
New Zealand band Te Huhu describe themselves as "a drowsy blend of psychedelic stoner shoegaze blues country folk rock." And listening to "On Holiday," their latest single that dropped back in August, i'd say that sounds about right. Check the track out below and download it here.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Willow's Song
It's been a spell, and i think it's probably time i give "The Wicker Man" a rewatch. Put that on the to-do list. In the meantime, here's some music from the film. Listen to Paul Giovanni's "Willow's Song" below, our Daily Jam.

The Black Dog
Here's some meditative new music from Sheffield experimental electronic band The Black Dog. The massive new album "Sleep Deprivation" is out next month. Pre-order it here and listen to the soothing ambient tones of "Sleep Deprivation 05:The Slow Cancellation of the Future" below.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - She's My Witch
I've been fighting a cold the last few days, and it has really slowed me down. There was a lot i was planning on getting done this week, and practically none of it has happened. Anyway, that's one of the reasons i'm posting so late. So here's a good one, the old school rockabilly-tinged "She's My Witch" from Kip Tyler. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Blue Heron
From the desert and mountains of Albuquerque, New Mexico comes the heavy, doom-laden sounds of Blue Heron. The band's new album ,"Everything Fades," is full of stoner riffs, grungey vocals, and droning desert rock tones. Dig on "Swansong" below and get the LP here from Blues Funeral Recordings.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Black Mass
Here's some creepy jazz and psych-tinged music from Les Baxter's score to "The Dunwich Horror." Lovecraftian vibes abound. Listen to "Black Mass" below, our Daily Jam.

Scions
Canadian orchestral folk collective make a sprawling, electronic and drone-tinged kind of folk music that can feel like it's originating from the center of the earth somewhere. Check out the weird and shaky "The Mountain" below, a track that feels like it's heralding something big to come. And pre-order the group's upcoming "To Cry Out in the Wilderness" here from Idee Fixe Records.
Daily Jam - Spellbound
There's nothing quite like some Siouxsie & The Banshees during the countdown to Halloween. Let those Goth vibes flow. Here they are with "Spellbound," our Daily Jam.

Robert Stillman
UK experimental jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Stillman is set to release a collection of live tracks recorded during his opening stint supporting The Smile on tour. Pre-order the "Something About Living" LP here from Orindal Records and check out the otherworldly title track below.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Killing Game
Skinny Puppy will forever feel like an Autumn band to me, their industrial/electronic tones so perfectly suited for the Halloween season. Here's one from 1992's "Last Rights." Listen to "Killing Game" below, our Daily Jam.

Whisper Hiss
Portland band Whisper Hiss just dropped a split 12" with Glasgow artist Dancer, two sides of female-led post punk to shake and groove to. Check out "Movable Objects" below and get the record here from HHBTM Records.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - The Lords Theme
Here's a short but creepy and unnerving one from John 5 and Griffin Boice from the soundtrack to Rob Zombie's "The Lords of Salem." Check out "The Lords Theme" below, our Daily Jam.

Glass Beams
In a couple of hours, i'll be heading out to the ACL music festival with my wife, today's attendance being an anniversary gift i got for her so she can see Chappell Roan. Probably because i'm older, but the festival just doesn't have the allure it did for me 15 years ago. Anyway positivity is the name of the game, and i can always find something to listen to, like Melbourne's Glass Beams. The band dropped their new album "Mahal" back in March, but the mix of Eastern tones, funk, psych, and library sounds should hit the ears just right on what's looking to be a hot and sunny day in Austin. Check out the title track from the album below and get the record here from Ninja Tune.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - Shock Waves Suite
While the movie is unfortunately not that great, i remember being a combination of fascinated and terrified by the VHS cover art to "Shock Waves" when i was a little kid, catching glimpses of the tape at the small, mom and pop rental place we used to go to in days before Blockbuster put everyone out of business. And Richard Einhorn's droning, electronic score is pretty damn effective. Check out the "Shock Waves Suite" below, our Daily Jam.

Sugar Horse
Bristol band Sugar Horse dropped their new album "The Grand Scheme of Things" yesterday, a lovely mesh of noise, doom, shoegaze, and post metal...along with the band's usual penchant for excellent song titles. Check out the moody title track below and get the LP here from Pelagic Records.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Witch's Love Song
Earlier this year, i kind of just stumbled across this fascinating oddity from 1971 at a record store, Barbara, The Gray Witch's self-titled and sole release. The album is a mix of spoken word, drone, folk, chants, and rituals, tests to determine whether you are witch or warlock, and notes on the Occult. Tis the season. Check out the said folk and drone of "Witch's Love Song" below, our Daily Jam.

Inner Magic
Here's some new music from the remnants of Chromatics. Inner Magic is the project of former Chromatics members Adam Miller and Nat Walker, along with Mikal Oor, and they make exactly the kind of dreamy pop jams you would expect, hazy, synth-laden, late night tunes to drift away to. Check out "Discovery" below and download the "Discovery" EP, featuring an instrumental and drumless version of the track here.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Seance
That particular kind of 1960's garage rock that really leaned into the macabre, be it via spooky subject material or outright Halloween novelty kitsch just hits the spot for me, especially this time of year. Someday, i'm going to have to hunt all these 7" singles down. Here's one for your Friday. Listen to Ohio band The Ebb-Tides and "Seance" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - Screaming Skull
Skeletons! Skulls! Bones! Here's the great New York garage rock band The Fleshtones with some skeletal-themed mayhem for your Thursday. Listen to "Screaming Skull" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - A Ritual Killing
Here's some moody, doom-laden, blackened metal from Illinois band I Shalt Become to get those October spirits moving. Listen to "A Ritual Killing" from the band's 2009 album "The Pendle Witch Trials" below, our Daily Jam.

Maria Somerville
It's been over five years since Irish artist Maria Somerville released her excellent "All My People" LP, and i'd say a whole lot has happened since then. But now she's back with new, floaty track "Projections." Here's hoping a new album is imminent. Check the track out below and download it here from 4AD (as appropriate a landing spot for this artist as i could think of).
Daily Jam (October Edition) - The Beginning
At last spooky season is upon us, and i've got the jams to go along with it. Up today is part of Wojciech Kilar's score to Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Check out the very gothic "The Beginning" below, our Daily Jam.
